Residents Evacuated After Fire Breaks Out At Nursing Home

WEST BABYLON, NY - Residents were evacuated after a small fire broke out at a West Babylon nursing home on Monday morning.

Suffolk Police and firefighters responded to the East Neck Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on 134 Great East Neck Road at about 8:30 a.m.

The fire broke out in the motor roof vent of a non-patient area over by the loading dock area, a spokesperson for the nursing home said.

There no flames and no injuries were reported.

The residents from one unit were evacuated for a short period of time but returned after firefighters cleared the area.
