Scott Benenati Takes on Suffolk Marathon
West Islip resident to help raise funds for veterans services

Scott Benenati of West Islip will be running in the second annual Suffolk County Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k on Oct. 30.
All net proceeds from the race go toward veterans services.
Last year's race raised $160,000 for such veteran services as counseling, provision of veterans service dogs, housing, jobs, etc.

"We welcome all runners, of all abilities, to come out and honor those who have served their country," said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. "It is the least we can do for those who have sacrificed for us."
The race is scheduled for 8 a.m., starting and finishing in downtown Patchogue. The race is followed by the Taste of Long Island festival, which highlights food, wine and beer produced on Long Island.

"I’m looking forward to running the roads and through the towns I grew up in and around all for a great cause, supporting and honoring our local veterans," Benenati said.
