Snow, Freezing Rain Possible To Start Work Week

Just what we need right now...

Long Island could see a little snow and ice to kick off the work week on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

It won't be anything like Thursday's blizzard, though. Any snowfall accumulations would be light, averaging about an inch, but the timing of the wintry weather could cause some problems during the Monday evening rush hour commute.

"Let us hope that this stays as a light precipitation producer late Monday otherwise the evening rush hour drive on Monday is not going to be a pretty one," Joe Cioffi, a meteorologist for WPIX-TV and FiOS1 News, wrote on his website.

There's also a chance of at least a trace of freezing rain falling on the island Monday afternoon.

"Snow may be a pain but at least you get some traction," Cioffi said. "Ice on the other hand is a completely different experience."
