Southside Hospital Gives Safety Training to Bear Cubs, Daisies

These children learned about outdoor safety and proper wound care.

Southside Hospital’s Coordinator of Trauma Prevention Tim Dackow, RN, recently taught 20 local children about various protocols related to bike, pool and general outdoor safety.

In the beginning of March, Mr. Dackow worked with the Bear Cubs from Pack 205 in East Islip. Last week, he educated Daisy Troop 7170, also from East Islip. In addition to learning safety tips, the children got a hands-on demonstration of how to properly bandage a “cut.”

Southside Hospital was the first in New York State to become an American College of Surgeons Level II verified trauma center.
