Special Coronavirus Birthday Celebration For LI Centenarian
The West Islip resident got a special car parade complete with a police escort for her 100th birthday celebration this past weekend.

WEST ISLIP, NY — A West Islip resident got a special celebration for her 100th birthday this past weekend amid the coronavirus outbreak. Ethel Zaher enjoyed her 100th birthday Saturday, watching from her front lawn surrounded by family.
As an extra surprise, a car parade of well-wishers drove through her community and past her home. Dozens of cars decorated with banners, while others carried passengers holding celebratory signs. The event even included a Suffolk County Police escort. The parade was coordinated by fellow West Islip resident, Anthony Musumici.
Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter also attended the event, while maintaining social distance, as she presented Zaher with a citation on behalf of the Town Board.
