The Great Clothing Drop Box Hunt

All the drop boxes Patch could find in West Islip

Let's be honest, running into a clothing drop box is about as rare as a porterhouse steak from Peter Luger.  Every city has them, yet they're nearly impossible to find.

Some towns are actually wise enough to place them in obvious locations, but then there are others that decide to hide them like they would Easter eggs for their nieces and nephews.

Fortunately, West Islip Patch decided to go on a hunt of our own.  Rather, a mission to expose every clothing drop box in the neighborhood.  Here's what we found.

Clothing Drop Box No. 1

Located in the parking lot of Super Stop & Shop at 400 Union Blvd.  If you're heading east, make the first right into the parking lot and stay to the right.  There will be a blue drop box against the curb.

Clothing Drop Box No. 2

Located in that same parking lot as the first.  This time, instead of bearing to the right, enter the parking lot and go straight down until you can't go any further.  Then make a right and they'll see two large white boxes lined up to your left.

Clothing Drop Box No. 3

This box can be found on the corner on Parkwood Road and Union Boulevard, about one mile west of Super Stop & Shop.  It's a large pink box (sponsored by the Long Island Cancer Help and Wellness Center) that's in the corner of a small parking lot adjacent to Union Boulevard.  You can't miss it.

Clothing Drop Box No. 4

A set of three pink boxes (sponsored by Breast Cancer Help, Inc.) can be found in the Bob's Store shopping center parking lot at 187 Sunrise Hwy.  They're located all the way against the curb on the far west side of the lot.

Clothing Drop Box No. 5

By far the trickiest one of the group.  This box is placed at the site of the old Ford Dealership on Montauk Highway.  It's another pink drop box (sponsored by Breast Cancer Help, Inc.) and can only be accessed if you walk up to it.  Since there's construction at the site (TD Bank coming soon), there's nowhere to park.  Injury was risked just taking the picture.  We recommend that you avoid this box until the construction is done.
