VIDEO: Fire Destroys Shed In West Islip, No Injuries Reported, Fire Officials Say

A detached utility shed caught fire early Saturday morning, officials say.

WEST ISLIP, NY — A fire broke out early Saturday morning on a residential property in West Islip, prompting a multi-department response, fire officials said.

The West Islip Fire Department was dispatched around 5:40 a.m. April 11 for a structure fire in the area of Thadeus Lane and Church Lane.

Third Assistant Chief Ryan Broderick confirmed a working fire involving a 20-by-30 detached utility shed and requested a mutual aid assignment.

First-due crews stretched hose lines and began fire suppression operations, while additional units assisted with extinguishment and overhaul.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes, officials said. No injuries were reported.

Mutual aid departments from Babylon and North Babylon responded to assist at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Town of Islip Fire Marshal’s Office.
