West Islip Sophomore's Music Selected for NYSSMA Showcase

WEST ISLIP, NY — A West Islip High School student's musical arrangement will be presented at the 2021 New York State School Music Association Electronic Music Showcase.

The West Islip School District announced Tuesday that “Passacaglia in F Major,” composed by sophomore Sophia Stehlik, was selected for the state-wide performance. The district said that Stehlik is an accomplished percussionist, and has been recognized for her compositions numerous times since the third grade.

Her piece will be presented at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Thursday.
