WEST ISLIP, NY - A West Islip resident is asking for help to find the person who stole several pieces of jewelry during a burglary last month.

On the weekend of Aug. 20, an unknown person broke into Gina Babyak's home by cutting out the screen and climbing through the window. According to Babyak, the person stole the "most sentimental pieces of jewelry" she owns.

"We are simply devastated. All we want is for someone to give our personal items back, they mean so much to us," Babyak wrote. "We are begging for everyone to keep their eyes and ears open in hopes of seeing or hearing anything. We simply want our property back no questions asked, do the right thing and return what is not yours."

There was no description available for the burglar but the unknown person left fingerprints all over the home and Suffolk County Police are currently looking to find a match to the fingerprints.
