2 Hudson Valley Leaders Elected to Top Spots at Conference of Mayors

The organization represents 580 cities and villages in New York.

Mayor Thomas Roach is the new president of the Conference of Mayors.

On May 2, during the 107th annual meeting of the conference Roach was elected president and will serve for the year.

Elected first vice president was Village of Fishkill Mayor James Miccio.

Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy was chosen to be second vice president, and Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan will serve as treasurer.

Peter A. Baynes, executive director of the conference, said the membership will benefit greatly from Roach’s experience, energy and vision.

“Mayor Roach’s proven leadership will be instrumental in NYCOM’s efforts to help eliminate obstacles and cultivate a true partnership with our state leaders that will allow our communities to achieve long-term fiscal stability, economic growth and a better quality of life,” Baynes said, in a prepared statement.
