2 Series Filmed In Westchester Receive Emmy Nominations

Both "The Flight Attendant" and "Halston" had scenes filmed in Westchester, with one location standing in for Versailles.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — If you watched "The Flight Attendant" on HBO Max or "Halston" on Netflix, you saw scenes filmed in Westchester County, even though in one instance you thought it was in France.

Both series received 14 Emmy nominations between them when they were handed out Tuesday.

"The Flight Attendant," which stars Kaley Cuoco, had scenes filmed in Westchester, including at the Motel 6 in Elmsford, The Galleria in White Plains and a private home in West Harrison, according to county officials.

"Halston," starring Ewan McGregor as the famous fashion designer, used the W.B. Thompson Mansion, also known as Alder Manor, in Yonkers as the backdrop for an episode set in Versailles, France. Additional scenes were filmed in White Plains.

County Executive George Latimer said the nominations spotlight the county's film-friendly communities and diverse locations.

"With our beautiful and spacious parks, historic Main Streets, rural landscapes and bustling urban areas, we provide interesting backdrops for feature films, episodic shows and commercials," he said.

"Congratulations to all of the creative talent behind this year's nominees," Latimer said. "We'll be rooting for you in September."

Cuoco's character in "The Flight Attendant" wakes up in a hotel room in a foreign country next to a dead man. She has no idea what happened the night before.

Cuoco received a nomination for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series." Co-star Rosie Perez received a nomination for supporting actress in a comedy series.

The series other nominations were for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, production design, casting, directing, single-camera picture editing and original main title theme music.

Nominations for "Halston" included Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Ewan McGregor in the title role.

The series also received nominations for production design, period costumes, period and/or character makeup (non-prosthetic) and music supervision.

Westchester County Tourism & Film Director Natasha Caputo said she was not only thrilled about the nominations but about seeing a real uptick in film activity this year.

"Westchester is attractive to the industry because of our diversity in locations inside the New York film zone," she said. "We can also stand in for almost anywhere in the world and any point in time — as seen in one of this year's nominee, 'Halston'."

The 73rd annual Emmy Awards will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and will take place Sept. 19 on CBS at 8 p.m.
