$50,000 3rd-Prize Powerball Ticket Sold In Hudson Valley

While no one in New York won the huge jackpot, there were two $1 million-dollar tickets and six $50,000 tickets purchased in the state.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Someone bought a ticket to the Jan. 5 drawing of Powerball in the Hudson Valley and won themselves $50,000.

There were two winners — in California and Wisconsin — who will be splitting the $632.6 million jackpot, but there were six winners of the third prize, including one in the Hudson Valley.

  • Stewart's Shops in Slingerlands
  • Blak Service Station in Brooklyn
  • 99 Cents Up Store in Astoria
  • PPL United Wine and Liquor in East Elmhurst
  • My Neighbors Grocery Store in Long Island City

The winning numbers for the Jan. 5 Powerball drawing were 6-14-25-33-46, with the Powerball being 17, according to lottery officials.

To win third prize, ticket buyers had to correctly pick four numbers plus the Powerball. They each receive $50,000.

According to the New York Lottery website, there were two second-prize winners, each receiving $1 million. They were purchased in Brooklyn and Ridgewood.

The next Powerball drawing will be Saturday. The jackpot, as of Thursday, is $20 million.

The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of one to 69. The Powerball number is drawn from a separate field of one to 26. The Powerball drawing is televised every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m.
