Active Coronavirus Cases Continue To Decline In Westchester

The county executive said there has been a seven-week decline in the number of active cases.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — During the first outdoor news conference in several weeks, Westchester County Executive George Latimer updated the public Wednesday on the latest new coronavirus numbers.

As of Wednesday, there were 33,186 confirmed positive cases of the new coronavirus in the county.

Of those, 1,575 are still active cases, down from 1,665 Tuesday. There has been a seven-week decline in the number of active cases, Latimer said.

Under 400 people are hospitalized in the county, he said.

There were seven more deaths overnight, Latimer said, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,352.

Regarding testing for the virus, 14.5 percent of the residents in the county have been tested, for a total of 145,385.

Latimer said contact tracing in the county is underway, with 800 individuals trained in the procedure.
