Active Coronavirus Cases Continue To Drop In Westchester

The county said 72 percent of individuals who are tested are turning out negative.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The number of active cases of the new coronavirus continues to drop in Westchester County. At his daily news conference Monday, County Executive George Latimer there are now 31,384 confirmed cases of the virus as of Monday. That is up 90 from Sunday, he said.

The number of active cases is currently 3,377, down by 300 from the previous day.

"We are down dramatically from our peak of 11,000 about a month ago," Latimer said.

He said there were no numbers available for current hospitalizations, but he said they are number 500, down from a peak of 1,200 a month ago.

The total number of deaths for Westchester is now 1,227, with nine new deaths overnight.

The county has tested more than 112,000 individuals for the virus, with 28 percent testing positive and 72 percent testing negative.
