WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — On your marks, get set, go! It's time to ride your bicycle. It's time to ride your bike.

Westchester County Parks and the Westchester Parks Foundation will open the 2026 Bicycle Sundays season on Sunday, May 3, on the Bronx River Parkway. The 52nd annual program will make nearly 6.5 miles of the parkway available for bicyclists, skaters, joggers and walkers on select Sundays in spring, summer and fall.

"Bicycle Sundays is one of Westchester's most beloved traditions, bringing tens of thousands of people together to enjoy the simple pleasure of being outdoors," Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said. "Closing the Bronx River Parkway to traffic creates a unique space where families, friends, and neighbors can connect, stay active, and experience the beauty of our park system in a whole new way. We're proud to continue this long-standing program and welcome everyone back for another great season."

The program is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by the Westchester Parks Foundation and its partners through donations from co-presenting sponsors Con Edison and NewYork-Presbyterian. Danny Cycles in Scarsdale is the official bicycle sponsor. Bicycle Sundays attracts more than 60,000 residents and visitors each year, according to organizers.

This year's schedule begins with May dates on May 3, 10, 17 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June dates are June 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and July dates are July 12 and 26 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. September dates are Sept. 13, 20 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bicycle Sundays will not take place on Memorial Day weekend, Fourth of July weekend or Labor Day weekend.

"Bicycle Sundays showcases the very best of Westchester County Parks—accessible, active, and community-driven. Whether you're biking, walking, or jogging, the program offers a safe and scenic setting for people of all ages and abilities to get outside and enjoy the Bronx River Parkway," Westchester County Parks Commissioner Kathy O'Connor said. "We're especially excited to offer earlier hours in June and July, giving participants a cooler, more comfortable way to start their day in the parks."

The earlier hours in June and July were added after returning by popular demand. Bicycle Sundays was first launched in 1974. Organizers say the event offers a way to experience the Bronx River Reservation and the historic Bronx River Parkway, the nation’s first parkway and a designated National Historic Landmark.
