WHITE PLAINS, NY — The Nordstrom store in White Plains has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars to theft, in a case that police say was an inside job.

White Plains police said that on Tuesday, 24-year-old Dominic Bascoe was arrested in connection with what the department described as a long-term larceny scheme targeting the Nordstrom store at The Westchester mall. According to the White Plains Police Department, the investigation found merchandise losses valued at more than $243,000.

Police said an investigation began March 18, when Nordstrom's Asset Protection team reported an internal theft. According to the department, surveillance footage showed Bascoe, an employee, concealing women's fragrances and beauty products in clear bags and staging them outside the building's loading dock on Paulding Street.

Police said he was later seen retrieving the items in his personal vehicle.

"This arrest is the result of outstanding investigative work and a strong public-private partnership with Nordstrom's security team," Commissioner Wade C. Hardy. said."We remain committed to protecting our local business community and ensuring that those who exploit their positions of trust are held accountable."

The investigation was conducted by White Plains Police Department Detective Garcia and investigators from Nordstrom's employee theft detection unit. Police said a review of store records and surveillance uncovered a pattern of theft dating back to Dec. 5, 2025. Over four months, Bascoe is accused of carrying out 32 separate thefts and removing about 82 boxes of merchandise, including Dior fragrances and beauty creams, according to police.

Police said investigators tracked Bascoe's vehicle with help from the Westchester County Police Department's Real-Time Crime Center after what the department described as attempts to evade authorities and a period of "no-call, no-show" at work. On April 25, the Westchester County Police Department conducted a targeted traffic stop that led to his apprehension, according to the police announcement.

Bascoe was taken to White Plains Police Headquarters, where he was booked, processed, and held for a court appearance.
