WHITE PLAINS, NY — A traffic stop led to felony charges in Westchester County.
The New York State Police say that troopers from Newburgh arrested 24-year-old Omar Alexis Castillo-Ramos, of White Plains, for three counts of felony weapons possession and DWI.
On Sunday, around 4:20 a.m., troopers stopped a 2018 Land Rover on the I-287 east off-ramp, in White Plains.
When speaking with the driver, identified as Castillo-Ramos, troopers noticed signs of impairment and administered standard field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to troopers.
Castillo-Ramos was arrested for DWI and taken to SP Tarrytown for processing, where he registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 percent, NYSP said.
During a vehicle inventory, troopers found a loaded semi-automatic 9mm handgun, with 10 rounds of ammunition in the magazine, on the floor of the back passenger seat, according to NYSP.
In addition to the DWI, Castillo-Ramos was charged felony criminal possession of a firearm; and felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm).
He was also issued several uniform traffic tickets for vehicle/traffic law violations.
Castillo-Ramos was arraigned at White Plains City Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail with a bail of $10,000 cash, $100,000 bond. He is due back in White Plains City Court on May 14.
