Nuclear Cardiologist Dr. Diwakar Jain Joins Westchester Medical Center

Internationally renowned physician and scientist joins Westchester Medical Center as Director of Nuclear Cardiology

Westchester Medical Center (WMC) recently welcomed, internationally-renowned physician and scientist Dr. Diwakar Jain, M.D., F.R.C.P., F.A.C.C., F.A.S.N.C. to its staff.  Dr. Jain will serve as the Director of Nuclear Cardiology at the Medical Center.

Dr. Jain’s specialties include nuclear cardiology and molecular cardiovascular imaging, mental stress and heart disease, and cardiotoxicity of cancer chemotherapy.

Dr. Jain earned his medical degree from Medical College, Rohtak, India, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine–as well as his cardiology fellowship–at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research in Chandigarh, India. He also completed additional fellowship training in cardiology and cardiovascular research at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, Middx, UK and Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT.  At Yale, Dr. Jain advanced from Assistant to Associate Professor before moving to Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia where he became Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of Nuclear Cardiology Laboratories.

Dr. Jain has published over 125 original scientific papers, articles and book chapters, has co-authored 2 books and has reviewed articles in over 25 medical journals including the Journal of American Medical Association, Circulation, Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC) and JACC Imaging, Journal of Nuclear Medicine. He has lectured extensively worldwide and has earned many awards throughout his career.

In addition, Dr. Jain is also a member of several clinical organizations and councils including the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC). He has served as President of the Cardiovascular Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Chair of the scientific program committee of the annual meeting of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Jain has also served on several quality assurance committees of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
