Burke Rehabilitation Hospital announced that it has received another three-year accreditation from The Joint Commission, the gold standard for hospitals. The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® accreditation demonstrates continuous compliance with its performance standards and is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Burke Rehabilitation Hospital underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review by a team from The Joint Commission, which reviewed Burke’s physical plant as well as patient care, policies and procedures, documentation and infection control. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews. The results of the survey were highly positive, with no high-risk level issues identified.

“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” said Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Burke Rehabilitation Hospital for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”
