CareMount Medical Welcomes Dr. Teresa Alasio as its Medical Director of Pathology
Dr. Alasio will manage lab test procedures, quality management, safety, and consultation for CareMount Medical's pathology department

CareMount Medical, the largest independent multi-specialty medical group in New York State, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Teresa Alasio as Medical Director of Pathology. Dr. Alasio will manage all efforts related to lab test procedures, quality management, safety, and consultation for CareMount Medical’s pathology department. She specializes in cytopathology and general anatomic pathology.
“A pathologist is often referred to as a doctor’s doctor,” said Dr. Teresa Alasio, Medical Director of Pathology at CareMount Medical. “In this role, I serve as a communication bridge between laboratory operations and clinical practice. Patient care is my top priority and I aspire to provide careful diagnosis and education to physicians and patients. I look forward to expanding the pathology department and our services at CareMount Medical and increasing our presence and involvement with the entire community.”
Working alongside an experienced team of physicians and licensed technicians, Dr. Alasio will oversee the lab where all cellular samples and biopsies are processed, examine lab samples, prepare and finalize diagnosis reports and provide consultative discussions with referring clinical departments.

“Dr. Alasio brings great depth of experience and notable expertise to her new role at CareMount,” noted Scott D. Hayworth, M.D., President and CEO. “Under her leadership, our pathology department will advance and expand its offerings in service of our mission to offer state-of-the-art care to our patients, close to home.”
Dr. Alasio received her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and completed her Internship in General Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center, Department of Surgery. She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, and fellowship in Cytopathology at New York University, Department of Pathology. Dr. Alasio is Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology. Prior to joining CareMount Medical, Dr. Alasio was a Pathologist and Assistant Laboratory Director at Cairo Diagnostics Laboratory in White Plains.
