Catholic HS Students To Hold Fundraiser For Syrian Refugees

All proceeds will go toward sending aid to families displaced by civil war in Syria.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Catholic high school students have established a charity designed to provide aid to Syrian refugees.

Stepinac High School junior Michael Mauguin and six of his friends at other Catholic high school have planned a music festival that will raise funds for Project Syria LIVE.

“It’s hard to believe that other teenagers my own age have to worry about waking up the next morning, losing a loved one or being forced to give up all that know and love on a daily basis,” Mauguin said.

Highlights of the festival will include a “battle of the bands,” made up of local bands and other young people from local high schools. A special guest is scheduled to be “Voice” finalist Amanda Ayala.

There will also be speakers and exhibits highlighting the plight of the displaced, with a special focus on teenage refugees.

Admission is $15 in advance and can be purchases by visiting www.reliefunited.org. Admission at the door is $20.

Mauguin and the other founded Relief United in October 2016. The charity teamed up with CNEWA, a 501(c)(3) charity to provide humanitarian support to Christian refugees in Syria.
