Chances for Snow, Rain: New Year's Weekend Weather for White Plains
Here's when you'll see what around Valhalla.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The weather looks normal for our three-day New Year's weekend in the Hudson Valley, with temperatures about average, a bit of wind chill and maybe a few snow or rain showers as icing on the cake.
"The weather looks rather quiet… but a few snow flurries can’t be totally ruled out," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.
For hardy souls planning to watch ball drops, be it in Peekskill, White Plains or Times Square, midnight is the time to watch for stuff falling from the sky.

While conditions will be mainly dry on Saturday night, it's not out of the question that New York City could see a stray rain or snow shower late, according to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams. A normal high for Dec. 31 in New York City is 39 while a normal low is 28.
Here's the three-day weekend weather from the National Weather Service for southern Westchester:

- Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 39. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. South wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
- Tonight: A slight chance of snow showers before 11pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers between 11pm and 3am, then a slight chance of snow showers after 3am. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 38. South wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- New Year's Day: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 46. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
- Sunday Night: A slight chance of rain before 2am, then a slight chance of rain and sleet between 2am and 5am, then a slight chance of freezing rain and sleet after 5am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 29. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Monday: A chance of freezing rain and sleet before 9am, then a chance of rain and sleet between 9am and 10am, then a chance of rain after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. East wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
- Monday Night: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 40. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
