Cops: White Plains Man Collected Unemployment While Working

New York state police have charged him with a felony.

Federico Shephard, 48, faces a charge of Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

The White Plains resident’s July 31 arrest stemmed from a complaint received from the New York State Department of Labor Special Investigation Division that alleged Shephard unlawfully collected over $9,800 in unemployment insurance benefits while he was gainfully employed. The false statements occurred between February 6, 2012 and July 8, 2012.

New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation issued Shephard an Appearance Ticket directing him to appear in the City of White Plains Court on Aug. 17.
