Coronavirus: County IDs Possible Additional Testing Sites
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said it was up to the state to decide whether to add mobile testing sites.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — With the number of new coronavirus cases continuing to rise in Westchester, County Executive George Latimer said the county is looking at other possible locations for mobile testing facilities. At a news conference Tuesday, he said the county-owned sites that could be feasible include the Playland parking lot in Rye and the parking lot at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown.
"We believe there should be another testing site in the northern part of the county," Latimer said.
He said the state Department of Health has to make decisions for additional testing sites.

Latimer said the latest total number of cases in the county, as announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, is 3,891, which is just short of 1,000 more than Monday.
The total number for the state is 25,665, according to the governor.
Latimer said the latest number of cases for the top 10 communities in Westchester are as follows:
- New Rochelle: 225
- Yonkers: 191
- Greenburgh, including the villages: 115
- Mount Vernon: 81
- White Plains: 65
- Port Chester: 45
- Scarsdale: 38
- Eastchester, including Bronxville and Tuckahoe: 51
- Ossining: 35
- Mount Pleasant: 30
- Yorktown: 30
Latimer said the only community in the county that, so far, has no cases is the Village of Buchanan.
He also addresses complaints that the county golf courses were still open while private courses and other recreation spots were forced to close.
The courses will be open through the weekend and the county will see what volume the courses get, Latimer said.
But, he added, golf is not a contact sport.
"To play the game of golf, you do not get close to one another," Latimer said.
"We think it's not a mistake to keep it open," he said. "As soon as we can open up other parks we will do so."
