Coronavirus: Westchester Shows Improvement In Active Cases

The active cases represent a 10 percent drop in three days.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County continues to show progress in the number of active cases of the new coronavirus as well as the number of people hospitalized from virus-related illness. County Executive George Latimer said, at his news conference Thursday, that the number of active cases dropped below 9,000 for the first time in a couple of weeks.

He said the county is still showing a flattening of the curve.

As of Thursday, there were 25,959 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, with 8,955 active cases. The number of tests administered totaled 78,881.

There are 990 people in the hospital with the new coronavirus.

The number of reported deaths due to the virus is now 863, up 25 from Wednesday.

Yonkers still has the most number of cases at 4,397. New Rochelle is second with 1,915 and Mount Vernon is third with 1,851.
