County and Pace University Launch Westchester Smart Mobile App Development Contest

The competition will include students from more than 40 high schools and colleges in the Metro New York region.

Students from more than 40 area high schools and colleges are slated to compete in the Westchester Smart Mobile App Development Bowl, a contest designed to create an app to assist with “the management and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.”

The contest is being sponsored by Westchester County, Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, and the David and Minnie Berk Foundation. Co-sponsors are IBM, Burke Rehabilitation and Research, The Bristal Assisted Living and Liberty Lines. Winners of the two-month contest will receive cash prizes and/or paid internships.

“There is no limit on the creativity that students can apply to the apps,” said Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino in a statement. “This is a chance for students to showcase their talents.”
