Date Set For 37th Senate District Special Election
The vacancy was created when George Latimer was elected Westchester County Executive.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A date has been set for a special election to fill the vacant state Senate seat for the 37th District. Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a proclamation setting Tuesday, April 24, 2017, as the date for special election for 11 vacant Senate and Assembly seats.
The vacancy in the 37th Senate District was caused by the election of George Latimer to Westchester County Executive.
County Republicans are scheduled to choose their candidate Wednesday, Feb. 7, deciding between former Rye Councilwoman Julie Killian and former Yonkers inspector general Dan Schorr of White Plains.

Democrats chose Yonkers Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer to run for the seat.
The 37th District contains parts of the cities of Yonkers, White Plains and New Rochelle as well as Bedford, Harrison, Mamaroneck, North Castle and Rye.
