Deadline Set to Make Public Comments on Proposed French American School in White Plains

The proposal is to build a school on the site of the former Ridgeway Country Club.

The city of White Plains has set Dec. 18 as the last date it will accept public comments on the proposed French American School of New York, the White Plains Daily Voice reports.

FASNY has proposed to build a $60 million campus on the former Ridgeway Country Club, which it bought in 2011.

According to the publication, the project cannot move forward without approval from the Common Council and a special permit. City officials opposed to the project have raised concern over traffic, public safety, fire department response times and the impact the project would have on 78 acres of green space.

FASNY has compromised by reducing student enrollment to, adopting a busing policy to reduce traffic and has promised to establish a “Green Conservancy” on the golf course greens, the Daily Voice reports.
