Diminishing Chances of Rain: Weekend Weather for White Plains

We tell you when the showers are expected around White Plains and southern Westchester.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Rain's in the forecast, but maybe not as much as midweek forecasts predicted.

"For now, it’s looking not so much like a washout this weekend… and more of an unsettled, damp and fall-like weekend," says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Persistent rainfall may present flash-flooding possibilities elsewhere in the Mid-Atlantic states.

"Enough rain may fall on parts of New York state and southern New England to get small streams flowing and put a small amount of water back into ponds, lakes and reservoirs. However, the storm will not drop enough rain to completely alleviate extreme drought," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather.com senior meteorologist.

  • Today: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 59. Breezy, with a northeast wind 20 to 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Tonight: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 55. Breezy, with a northeast wind 15 to 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Saturday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 63. Northeast wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 57. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph.
  • Sunday: A 40 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 67. East wind around 6 mph.
  • Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58.
