All god’s creatures, along with their human owners, regardless of their denomination, are invited to St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church at 11:00am on Sunday, October 7, for a Blessing of the Animals. The blessing is held in conjunction with the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
Pets will receive individual blessings along with a St. Francis medal and treat bags for the pets. There will also be a petting zoo. Light refreshments will be provided for pet owners.
St. Francis of Assisi is remembered as a patron saint of animals and the environment. Born in Italy in 1182, he was noted for his commitment to justice and deep love of all creation. Francis died on October 3, 1226. The church celebrates his life and ministry each year in October.
