Westchester Student Assistance Services, Southern Westchester BOCES and the Westchester District Attorney’s office will co-sponsor “Bullying Prevention: Good Intentions Are Not Enough,” the first regionwide conference on bullying.
The conference will feature presentations by experts on bullying prevention programs, New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act, student suicides related to bullying, cyberbullying and Olweus, a school-wide anti-bullying program being used in thousands of U.S. schools.
Speakers will include Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore; Kim McLaughlin, New York State’s coordinator of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program; Isabel Burk of Southern Westchester BOCES, an expert on school violence and safety; and Barbara Bernstein of the Mental Health Association of Westchester.

Three school principals – Yigal Joseph of New Rochelle’s Columbus Elementary School, Linda Grimm of Yorktown’s Mildred Strang Middle School, and Andrew Selesnick of Chappaqua’s Horace Greeley High School – will lead a panel discussion on how schools are currently addressing bullying issues.
Registration for the conference is $40, which includes coffee and a light lunch.
