Stepinac Performs Phantom of the Opera

The Stepinac Drama Club will present Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway sensation, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA opens on Friday, April 27 on the campus of Archbishop Stepinac High School (950 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains) where the show will run until Sunday, May 6, 2012.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is the heart-wrenching story of the mysterious “Angel of Music” who lives beneath the Paris Opera House. The hideously disfigured Phantom falls in love with the young singer Christine, devoting himself to creating a new opera star while exercising a reign of terror over the Opera House’s occupants.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA contains Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most famous and romantic score, which includes “Music of the Night”
and “All I Ask of You”.

Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s unparalleled hit burst onto stages 20 years ago, and continues to play to full houses nightly on Broadway and around the world. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is an entertainment phenomenon that has been staged in 145 cities across 27 countries and having played to more than 100 million people around the world; this full-scale production is arguably
the most popular musical of all time.

As Broadway’s longest-running musical, the show has been honored with over 50 major theatre awards, including seven Tony Awards, among them the Tony for Best Musical.

Performances of Stepinac’s production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will take place at the Major Bowes Auditorium at (950 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains), easily accessible from I-287 and the Hutchinson River Parkway.

The performance schedule is as follows: Friday, April 27 at 7:30pm; Saturday, April 28 at 7:30pm; Friday, May 4 at 7:30pm; Saturday, May 5 at 7:30pm and Sunday, May 6 at 2:00pm.

Tickets for Stepinac’s PHANTOM OF THE OPERA are $18 for adults, $15 for children (12 and under) and senior citizens. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more.

Since 1949, the Stepinac Theatre has been one of the focal points of activity in the school. Professional productions of dramas and musicals nurture the talents of so many young men of Stepinac.

The Stepinac Theatre consists of the Stepinac Drama Club, which in conjunction with the young women of neighboring high schools, has 100 members each year, including the Stage Crew which consists of 30 young men from Stepinac.
