Honors Business leader William M. Mooney Jr.

and Philanthropist Helen Tinch Williams

Port Chester, NY (April 12, 2017) — Family Services of Westchester (FSW) announces its Annual Star Gala, honoring Westchester business titan William M. Mooney Jr. and philanthropist Helen Tinch Williams, mother of stage and screen star Vanessa Williams. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, April 20th, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.

William Mooney Jr. will receive FSW’s 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award, and Helen Williams will be honored with this year’s True Reflection Award.

Several notable celebrities from the world of sports will join Mr. Mooney and Mrs. Williams as honorees at this year’s Star Gala. Courtesy of longtime sponsor Steiner Sports, FSW’s 2017 Community All Stars include Hall of Fame Syracuse Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim, Triple Crown Jockey Victor Espinoza and New York Yankee baseball legends Roy White, Ron “Boomer” Blomberg and John Wetteland. New York Football Giants Super Bowl MVP Ottis Anderson will host the Star Gala 2017’s live auction.

Proceeds from the event will fund social and mental health services for more than 30,000 individuals served by FSW each year through its 50+ human care programs.

“With so many stars on board to help us celebrate FSW and its accomplishments, this year’s Gala promises to be our most exciting yet,” said FSW President and CEO Susan B. Wayne. “The human care services FSW provides are more vital now than ever before. We are grateful for the kind and generous support of community leaders like Bill and Helen, who keep our mission in the forefront.”

For more than 50 years, Bill Mooney has been a prominent force in the metropolitan region’s business and banking community. Bill currently serves as President of The Westchester County Association (WCA), the county’s premier business membership organization. Beyond his many skills as a business leader, Bill is deeply committed to giving back to the community. His philanthropic efforts extend to many not-for-profit and educational organizations.

A former teacher in the Ossining School District, Helen Williams has devoted her charitable efforts to mentoring vulnerable young people and helping them achieve their dreams. Mrs. Williams is recognized for her commitment as a mentor for college students, caretaker for seniors, an advocate for a Bedford Women’s Correction Facility inmate and initiating the Dr. Richard Sheil Memorial Music Scholarship fund at SUNY Fredonia.

Family Services of Westchester (FSW) is a 62-year-old not-for-profit organization which provides a comprehensive and inclusive spectrum of human, mental health and social services to more than 30,000 individuals in Westchester County, NY throughout the life cycle.
