Family Services of Westchester's REAL PARENTING PROGRAM featured at New York Fathering Conference

April 4, 2017 - County Executive Robert P. Astorino hosted 4th Annual New York Fathering Conference on today at the County Center in White Plains. The program helps non-custodial fathers get back into the lives of their children through a combination of life skills, parenting, employment training and other key employment and child support benchmarks in exchange for help with debt owed to the state for child support arrears.

Alphonso Simmons, director of Family Services of Westchester's REAL Parenting Program was featured on a distinguished panel of speakers.

“We hope this event will change people’s thinking about fathers and their role in the family," Simmons said."We think of child rearing as ‘women’s work,’ but a father’s role is critically important. We hope to change that perception, particularly with the service providers.”
