Good Counsel Academy Elementary Students Celebrate Thanksgiving by Participating in "Project Care Box"

Good Counsel Academy Elementary, located in Valhalla, celebrated Thanksgiving by creating over 110 “Care Boxes” for homeless veterans throughout Westchester County. Each box contains a student made scarf, socks, student created incidental kits and candy, hand warmers, prayer cards, thank you notes and a star from retired flags. This 5 week outreach project has brought great awareness to the plight of veterans here in Westchester County. Pre K 3 through Grade 8 students were involved every step of the way, from collections, organization, and decoration to assembly. Sgt. Rish, a retired Army Ranger and Vietnam veteran, will be delivering the “Care Boxes” throughout the Thanksgiving weekend to 110 deserving vets.
