Grand Prix New York recently hosted a group of fifth graders from NYC for a special day of free fun at the Mount Kisco location.

A combination of student fundraising, along with donations from GPNY, allowed the 60 students to enjoy a day of games, food and fun. Half of this fifth grade class are mainstream students and half are students battling emotional disorders or children with special needs.

Special Education Teacher Barbara Narissi said that many of the students live in shelters and many had never been outside of NYC before.

“They had an amazing time,” Narissi, who helped plan the event, said. “Coming into an environment like (GPNY) was thrilling for them.”

The students, who took a school bus from the city to the Mount Kisco location, were able to enjoy unlimited bowling, arcade games, food, drinks, and a huge helping of fun with their classmates and their teachers.

“I saw a perfect fit for them to experience something they likely wouldn’t have an opportunity to otherwise,” Sean Larkin, Controller of GPNY said about the event. “The staff here was caught up in their enthusiasm, as they were so excited about every little thing. The first round of food that came out was gone in 15 minutes.”

The children had a blast playing the arcade games, bowling, attempting to win the mini-basketball shoot challenge and picking out their coveted prizes.

Larkin, who has been involved with charity work for the school for the past ten years, said the kids left “incredibly thankful, content and happy.”

In addition to the June event, GPNY has supported many local charities and nonprofits, including the Support Connection, Project Yellow Light, Survive The Drive, Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester and the Starlight Foundation.

Grand Prix New York is located at 333 N Bedford Rd, Mt Kisco, NY 10549. For more information about GPNY, visit their website at www.gpny.com.
