Highlands Middle School Choir Gives Annual Holiday Performance

Choir performs acapella and a variety of holiday melodies

The sweet sound of holiday music wafted through the White Plains Public Schools’ Education House on December 15th as students from the Highlands Middle School Select Choir, and a few from the High School, treated staff and parents to a wonderful performance of acapella tunes and a medley of holiday favorites.

The students kicked off a half day of caroling that included stops at New York Presbyterian Hospital in White Plains and the Galleria Mall. Under the guidance of Choir Director Michele Davila, the 38-member group displayed their range and talent.

Dean Guida, a talented pianist who attends White Plains High School, accompanied Anna Ferrara and Cecilia Gomez on “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” as well the “Hallelujah” duet performed by Sophia Innocenzi and Zaida Polanco. Dean also performed a solo piece, “Kindle the Candles,” on the piano. High-schooler Alex Sanchez displayed his talent for beatboxing, a form of vocal percussion that mimics drum machines.
