Horse Show and Crafts Fair will raise money for Rescue Horses

There’ll be food, fun and lots of festivities for the entire family at the Spring Schooling Horse Show and Craft Fair, on Sunday, May 22, 10 am to 4 pm, at the Saddle Brook Farm Animal Rescue in Walden, NY.

The event will showcase more than 30 crafters and vendors from around the area, with such items as pottery, quilted and knitted items, quilted items, jewelry, novelty items, homemade jewelry, tie-dyed clothing and much more. There will be pony rides and face painting for children, and food will be available for purchase. The event will be held rain or shine. Throughout the day, participants can roam the grounds and visit with the many horses, emus, goats, sheep, chickens, dogs and other animals that have been rescued and now have a happy home at Saddle Brook.

Highlight of the day will be a schooling horse show, an opportunity for equestrians of all ages to demonstrate their skills and compete in all levels of riding. There will be events in Mini Stirrup Walk/Trot, Shorter Stirrup Walk/Trot, Short Stirrup Equitation, Maiden Equitation, Local Hunter, Lead Line, Pleasure Horse/Pony and Western Walk/Jog. Ribbons will be given in in each class and a champion and reserve champion will be awarded in each division.

The Horse Show will be judged by Helen King, owner of Saddle Brook Farm Animal Rescue and an award-winning trainer and instructor who has more than 35 years of professional riding, teaching, and training experience. Helen has had a life-long love of horses and other animals.The event is being held for the benefit of the Saddle Brook Farm, a 501c3 non-profit corporation that relies totally on the generous donations and support of its patrons and volunteers.

Visitors to the craft fair and horse show will be given an opportunity to become a “Horse Hero,” and sponsor the horses and other animals in our care.

A special fundraiser will be held that day for “Pippin,” one of the 12 rescue horses that currently live here at the farm. Pippin is a 15-year-old mixed-breed gelding, who has a bad bone chip in his knee that requires a $6,000 surgery to remove it.
