Hudson Valley City Named 1 Of Top 100 Best Places To Live

Livability.com looked at almost 2,300 small- to mid-sized cities, towns and villages and ranked them.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — For the fifth year in a row, White Plains has been named one of the 2018 Top 100 Best Places to Live. This year, the city came in at 98 out of 100, which is the lowest it’s been since it ranked 24th in 2014, according to lohud.com.

Online marketing site Livability.com looked at almost 2,300 small- to mid-sized cities, towns and villages and ranked them on more than 40 data points that measured housing, amenities, economics, infrastructure, demographics, education, health care and social and civic capital.

White Plains was described by Livability.com as “an affluent New York community where many residents commute 30 minutes by express train to work in Manhattan.”

The city has 35 distinct neighborhoods and among its amenities are the public school system, five college campuses, the White Plains Performing Arts Center and residents passionate about social causes, Livability.com said.

Topping the list for 2018 was Ann Arbor, MI followed by Manhattan, KS at No. 2 and Corvallis, OR at No. 3.

Ithaca at No. 37 was the only other New York city to make this year’s list.
