Johnson Earns Silver at States: Daily Sports Digest, June 12

Track & Field News from Dick Miller

Thomas Johnson was the sole White Plains athlete to compete at the New York State Track & Field Championship at Cicero-North High School on June 8th and 9th. He competed in the Triple Jump, where he finished 2nd, with a distance of 47-05.25, behind winner Jailyn Twitty of Amherst High in suburban Buffalo, who went 47-07.00.

Next, in the Long Jump, Johnson was  8th, with his best effort of 22-04.25, with winner Desmond Modl of Greece-Olympiain of Rochester, reaching 24-01.50. In this event, Twitty was disqualified.

Little League

Girls Hoops 

The Girls Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) Team will hold tryouts from 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight at Ossining High School according to the LoHud Girls Basketball Blog.

Any girl who played in Section 1 this past season and is eligible to play high school basketball this winter is allowed to try out for the squad.
