Joseph Lemm Honored with Service Award, Plaque

Westchester County will honor Joseph Lemm with a plaque at Kensico Dam Plaza.

County Executive Robert Astorino announced plans to honor the New York City police detective from Harrison who was killed in Afghanistan during his State of the County speech Thursday, the Journal News said.

Lemm’s family was given the Distinguished Service Award during the address.

The police detective was killed in a Dec. 21 suicide bombing in Afghanistan outside Bagram Air Base. Lemm was a technical sergeant with the 105th Base Defense Squadron and a 15-year veteran of the NYPD. Five other Americans were killed in the bombing.
