Latimer Declares State Of Emergency For Westchester

The executive order empowers the county executive to declare emergency orders for up to 30 days.

WHITE PLAINS, NY – Westchester County Executive George Latimer signed a State of Emergency Declaration for Westchester County Sunday at the county’s Emergency Operations Center in Hawthorne. The declaration allows for the county executive to streamline county services, and make direct emergency orders to ensure the storm recovery process goes as smoothly as possible.

At a press conference, Latimer said, “We intend to use this authority very lightly. It is not our intent to try to re-arrange things, but if our county commissioners approach us and say we need to take an action, we need to be able to take it swiftly and effectively.”

The executive order empowers the county executive to declare emergency orders for up to 30 days.
