Lawsuit Against White Plains on Hold After FASNY Agreement OK'd

The school will have to submit it new plans to the Common Council.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A deal was approved between the City of White Plains and the French-American School of New York that could move the prospect of a new campus forward.

A 4-3 vote Tuesday means FASNY will submit an alternative application for a scaled-down campus and will drop its lawsuit against the city, the Journal News said.

FASNY had submitted plans for a new campus and White Plains had approved its environmental studies.

A judge ordered the city to vote on the school’s special permit, but the Common Council did not comply.

If the agreement goes through, the school would reduce the number of students by 42, scale back the land that will be developed and open up 51 acres for passive recreation uses.
