RYE BROOK, NY (June 10, 2022) – The health education platform LessonBee will
introduce its instructional program this summer to Yonkers’ affordable housing
residents as part of the Westchester Innovation Network.

LessonBee’s culturally relevant health and emotional-skills programs will
target children living in complexes operated by the Municipal Housing Authority
for the City of Yonkers. The company’s self-paced online content library with
skill-building lessons for middle- to high-school grades has produced measurable
gains in classrooms where it has been deployed.

“We want this to be a lifestyle experience where young people can spend as
much time developing health knowledge and skills as they do on core academic
subjects,” said Reva McPollom, the founder and CEO of LessonBee. “That’s why
having partnerships that fit outside of K-12 is really important to us.”

LessonBee—based in Mount Vernon, N.Y.—joined the Westchester Innovation
Network (WIN) in the spring and the early-stage ed-tech company was matched
with the Yonkers housing authority, which is also working with several other
WIN participants.

“Our staff is committed to providing the best environment for our tenants,”
said Wilson Kimball, president and CEO of the authority. “Last year, we
provided more than 800 virtual classes, programs and services for our tenants
ranging from exercise to meditation. LessonBee’s health instruction classes
will complement the array of services we will offer our youth this summer as we
work to bridge the digital divide.”

WIN is an initiative of the Business Council of Westchester to propel
innovation forward as the foundation for the future of economic growth in
Westchester County, N.Y. The program matches innovators with local
collaborators to test new products.

“The Yonkers housing authority is the fourth largest in New York, and this
scale is an attractive match for the WIN participants who are eager to test
their products or services,” said Marsha Gordon, president and CEO of the
Business Council of Westchester, which launched WIN in December.
