Man Assaulted Correction Officer In Jail

A jury reached a verdict in the man's case.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A jury convicted a Yonkers man of assaulting a Westchester County correction officer. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Tuesday that Paul Overton, 36, of Yonkers, was found guilty of second-degree assault.

He faces a maximum of seven years in state prison when he is scheduled to be sentenced March 13.

Scarpino said Overton assaulted the officer at the Westchester County Jail July 19, 2017.

After failing to comply with numerous lawful orders, he intentionally injured the officer by punching, biting and struggling with him.
