Marlies' Artbeat: Met Opera has Tentative Agreement with Two Largest Unions

After prolonged, fiery negotiations, the Metropolitan Opera has announced tentative agreements with the two biggest unions: Local 802 and AGMA, which basically represent its all-important orchestra and chorus. These agreements are subject to ratification, of course, but it looks as though the threatened Lock-out has been prevented.

Ten lesser unions have a newly extended deadline, (midnight, Tuesday 8/19/2014,) to settle. It is anticipated that they will manage agreements also.

So we can expect that our Westchester movie screens, and the usual of the 60 countries around the globe, will be be offering the Live-at-the-Met-in-HD transmission all opera-buffs have have been waiting to enjoy!
