MHA of Westchester Launches Youth Work Readiness Training Program
First session to begin June 18

The Mental Health Association of Westchester County’s Employment Services Department is launching a new Youth Work Readiness and Soft Skills training program for teens and young adults (up to 21 years old). The program will be held at the Sterling Community Center, 29 Sterling Avenue, White Plains.
The training will provide participants with an overview of what it takes to get and keep a job in today’s market. Each group runs for three weeks, with two sessions per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The first session will begin June 18; subsequent sessions will be offered through December.

All participants must have a diagnosed mental health condition that may impact the ability to find or maintain employment. The training places special focus on building confidence and interpersonal skills essential to any work environment. No work experience or resume is required; we anticipate that most of our participants will be preparing for their first employment experiences, so they can expect assistance in job search techniques, resume writing and mock interviews.
“This program will allow participants to explore different career options and prepare them to succeed once hired,” said Danielle Ramachandran, Coordinator, Youth Work Readiness Program. “The sessions will be formatted in a ‘bootcamp’ style, so attendees are able to quickly gain the skills and confidence they need in a short period of time.”
