Michael Hunter Selected as 2016 White Plains Youth of the Year

Hunter is a sophomore at White Plains High School.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The 2016 Youth of the Year for the City of White Plains has been announced.

The City of White Plains Youth Bureau said Michael Hunter, a sophomore at White Plains High School, received the honor.

Organizers said Hunter is active in sports, including football, soccer and track and field.

He is an academic scholar and has received high honors since elementary school.

In the sixth grade, Hunter was selected to take a trip to China with the Pritchard Doggett Clark Foundation because of his high grades.

His volunteer experience includes the White Plains Hospital and White Plains Library, and he is a member of the city Youth Bureau’s Youth Court and the Westchester Children’s Association Teen Leadership Advocacy group.

Hunter is also an advocate for the New York State Raise the Age Campaign.
