Missing Teen Christine Ji Woo Kang Has Been Found
She was found Sunday night at Saint Agnes Church on 43rd Street, and turned over to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Christine Ji Woo Kang, the 16-year-old Edgemont High School student who ran away from home on Jan. 2, has been found safe in New York City, according to Greenburgh police.
She was found Sunday night at Saint Agnes Church on 43rd Street, and turned over to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Greenburgh detectives were en route to bring her home, Town Supervisor Paul Feiner announced in an email to residents.
Kang’s parents, Greenburgh Police Chief Chris McNerney, Feiner and Edgemont Cares Community representative Aubrey Graf-Daniels were wrapping up a meeting about next steps in the search for Christine when they got the call about her being found.

Hundreds of volunteers from Edgemont and nearby areas combed Manhattan and Fort Lee, NJ, over the weekend to look for Kang and hand out flyers about her disappearance. Those efforts paid off because the church recognized her from the flyers, according to Feiner.
She had boarded a Metro-North train in Scarsdale Friday night, Jan. 2, following an argument with her parents, and surveillance video images placed her at Grand Central Terminal at the end of the ride.
