With its focus on training like a pro, ML Strength, the state-of-the-art fitness facility at 188 East Post Road in White Plains, is now introducing its new ML Elite Golf and ML Elite Tennis, a custom sport-specific program to help golfers and tennis players take their games to the next level.
The first component is a comprehensive one hour and fifteen minute evaluation, conducted by an ML Strength coach, to analyze biomechanical weaknesses and compensatory movement patterns that can lead to energy leaks and injuries and to identify structural deficits, movement restrictions and muscular imbalances that may contribute to eventual breakdown and decreased performance. Afterwards, the ML Strength coach will communicate with and work alongside the golfer or tennis player’s pro to link any negative patterns to on court or on course performance and then design a custom program.
Some of the goals and elements of both the tennis and golf program include decreasing and freeing tension in problem areas, such as glutes, lats, quads, hip flexors, chest and shoulders, relieving pain, increasing range of motion and allowing proper muscle groups to activate when needed. This will be achieved through stretching and self-myofascial release.

Additional components include increasing stability and strength in the joints to prevent hip and knee injuries which often plague golfers and tennis players because of weak supporting structures. The program builds stability and strength through development of the small stabilizer muscles around these joints to keep the joints in the correct position and safe while in action.
Proper posture and symmetrical strength are also areas of focus. The ML Strength coaches target deficiencies to build strength in the proper areas to create a well rounded performer. In addition, coaches will incorporate sport specific stretching to enhance rotational ability and teach proper activation of the glutes so players will achieve the maximum efficiency when swinging a golf club or hitting a tennis ball.

ML Strength opened in fall of 2011 providing a professional sports environment that is both fun and challenging.
